Rick Devens’ Diamond Power of Veto could be about to shake up the Big Brother 28 house in a major way. With the Veto meeting approaching, there has been plenty of discussion about whether Devens will finally use the powerful advantage he won earlier in the season — and what exactly happens if he does.
Devens earned the Diamond Power of Veto during the Time Capsule twist in Week 3. Unlike a regular Power of Veto, the DPOV does more than simply remove a nominee from the block. Devens can take down one of the Head of Household’s nominees and then personally choose the replacement nominee. The power remains active for several more weeks, which is part of what has made using it now such a difficult decision.

This week, Yash holds both the Head of Household title and the Golden Power of Veto. His current nominees are Angela, Dee and Haley, and he has indicated that he does not plan to use his Veto. If that remains the case, Yash will announce his decision at the Veto meeting and prepare to close the ceremony. That is when Devens would have the opportunity to step in.
If Devens activates the Diamond Power of Veto, he is expected to use it on Dee, removing her from the block. Devens would then be responsible for naming the replacement nominee himself. Based on the current plan, that replacement would be Kamu.
The move would dramatically change the week. Kamu has been working closely with several of the people involved, and Devens using such a powerful advantage against him would almost certainly create new tension inside the house. Yash is also unlikely to be pleased about seeing his nominations altered without having any control over the replacement.
For Devens, the decision carries plenty of risk. Some of the houseguests he would be turning against have helped keep him protected in the game. Using the DPOV could destroy those relationships and expose exactly where Devens stands. On the other hand, waiting too long to make a move could leave him with a powerful advantage that never changes the course of the season.
If Kamu becomes the replacement nominee, his best chance of avoiding eviction would be winning the BB Block Buster. A Kamu victory would take him off the block and leave Angela and Haley vulnerable. In that situation, Haley could once again find herself in serious danger.
If Kamu fails to win the Block Buster, however, the vote could turn heavily against him. That would give Devens’ Diamond Power of Veto exactly the kind of impact fans have been waiting to see.
The Veto meeting could therefore become one of the biggest turning points of Big Brother 28 so far. If Devens follows through, the Diamond Power of Veto won’t just save Dee — it could break alliances, create new enemies and completely reshape the battle for control of the house.
