Big Brother may be preparing its biggest season ever, with new reports suggesting that Season 30 could bring back legendary houseguests and introduce a massive $1 million grand prize.
Following the success of Season 28, CBS has already confirmed that the popular reality competition will return for 29th and 30th seasons. However, it appears the network could be planning something particularly special for the show’s milestone 30th installment.
According to a new report from The U.S. Sun, producers are considering an ambitious All-Star season featuring some of the most recognizable players in Big Brother history.
The reported plans also include increasing the winner’s prize money to $1 million, potentially making Season 30 the most lucrative edition of the competition yet.

While CBS has not officially confirmed these details, the possibility has already given longtime fans plenty to look forward to.
Big Brother Season 30 Could Offer a $1 Million Grand Prize
For most of its history, Big Brother awarded its winner $500,000, while the runner-up received $50,000. Those amounts remained unchanged for more than two decades until Season 23 introduced a significant increase in prize money.
Since then, the winner has received $750,000, while the runner-up takes home $75,000. The fan-voted America’s Favorite Houseguest award, first introduced during Season 7, is currently worth $50,000.
However, that structure could change again when Season 30 arrives in 2028. According to a source cited by The U.S. Sun, CBS wants to make the anniversary season a major television event, potentially increasing the top prize to $1 million.
The reported increase would represent a substantial jump from the current $750,000 grand prize. It would also create the possibility of a new record for the largest total winnings by a single contestant in the show’s history.
Could Rick Devens Lose His Big Brother Prize Money Record?
Season 28 winner Rick Devens made history after taking home a combined $810,000. Devens earned $750,000 for winning the season, an additional $50,000 after being voted America’s Favorite Houseguest, and $10,000 in other winnings.
His victory made him the highest-earning contestant in Big Brother history. However, that record could be broken if CBS moves forward with the rumored $1 million grand prize for Season 30.
The network has not revealed whether the runner-up prize or America’s Favorite Houseguest award would also increase. For now, the reported prize changes remain unconfirmed.
Big Brother Season 30 Reportedly Planning an All-Star Cast
The potential prize increase isn’t the only major change being discussed. According to the report, Season 30 could feature an entirely returning cast made up of some of the show’s most memorable former competitors.
A source familiar with the alleged plans suggested that CBS wants to deliver a celebration similar to what Survivor created for its landmark 50th season. That season brought together returning players, introduced a larger $2 million grand prize, and made fan engagement a major part of the celebration.
Producers reportedly hope to create a similar level of excitement for Big Brother 30. If the plans move forward, viewers could see legendary strategists, fan favorites, former winners, and unforgettable personalities returning to compete for another shot at victory.
However, no returning Houseguests have been announced, and there is currently no confirmed casting list for Season 30.
Big Brother Season 29 Expected to Feature Mostly New Players
While Season 30 could focus on returning legends, Season 29 is reportedly expected to follow a more traditional format. According to the same source, the 2027 season will primarily feature new Houseguests.
There is reportedly still a possibility that one veteran player could enter the competition as part of a twist, but the main cast is expected to consist of newcomers.
That would mark a shift from Season 28, which introduced several familiar reality television personalities. The season featured Survivor veterans Rick Devens and Dee Valladares, alongside Big Brother 26 Houseguest Angela Murray.
Devens ultimately made history by becoming the first former Survivor contestant to win the American version of Big Brother. His victory demonstrated how experienced reality television competitors can shake up the game when placed alongside first-time players.
Still, Season 29 may give a new group of contestants the opportunity to establish their own legacies before the franchise celebrates its milestone season.
Big Brother Has Brought Back All-Stars Before
An All-Star edition would not be entirely new territory for the long-running CBS competition. Season 7, which aired in 2006, became the show’s first complete All-Star season.
It featured returning Houseguests from the first six seasons, bringing together established rivalries, alliances, and fan-favorite personalities. Mike “Boogie” Malin ultimately won that competition.
The show revisited the format in Season 22, which aired in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. That season featured another cast of returning players and ended with Cody Calafiore winning the $500,000 grand prize.
Over the years, Big Brother has also introduced veterans through different twists, including returning duos, coaches, and surprise appearances. However, a full All-Star season with a potential $1 million prize would represent an especially ambitious milestone for the franchise.
CBS Looking to Build on Big Brother 28’s Success
The reported plans follow an impressive year for Big Brother. Season 28 delivered major milestones for the reality competition, including reaching its 1,000th original episode.
CBS also reported strong audience engagement and increased viewership compared with the previous season. Following the October 1 finale, host Julie Chen Moonves announced that the network had renewed Big Brother for Seasons 29 and 30.
The double renewal ensures that the franchise will remain on television through its milestone anniversary season. With two more installments already confirmed, producers now have an opportunity to create a major celebration of the show’s history.
Whether that celebration includes a completely returning cast, a record-breaking jackpot, or unexpected twists remains to be seen.
Which Big Brother Legends Could Return for Season 30?
If CBS officially moves forward with an All-Star format, one of the biggest questions will be which former Houseguests receive invitations.
Over 28 seasons, the competition has introduced countless memorable personalities, from strategic masterminds and competition champions to controversial players and beloved fan favorites.
A milestone season could offer producers the opportunity to bring together contestants from different eras of the franchise. And with a rumored $1 million prize at stake, the competition could be more intense than ever.
For now, CBS has confirmed only that Seasons 29 and 30 are happening. The proposed All-Star cast and larger prize remain reports rather than official announcements. Still, the possibility of seeing some of the biggest names in Big Brother history return for an anniversary showdown is already an exciting prospect.
