Chuk Anyanwu’s Big Brother 28 journey came to an end Thursday night after a dramatic Week 5 eviction that saw the house overwhelmingly vote him out over Barrett Pfeiffer. Chuk became the fifth houseguest evicted from the season, following Ashley Trail, Rome Seymour, Jason De Puy and Lyric Medeiros.
Heading into the live eviction, Chuk, Haley Thogmartin and Barrett were all still in danger after La Trice “Lala” Verrett’s Head of Household reign. The three nominees first had to battle in the BB Blockbuster, where Haley pulled off a crucial victory and secured her safety. The competition required the players to maneuver apples across a ramp, and although Barrett appeared to take an early lead, Haley caught up and ultimately won, leaving Chuk and Barrett as the final two nominees.

Once Haley was safe, the house made its decision clear. Chuk was evicted by a decisive 9-1 vote, with Haley casting the only vote to evict Barrett and keep Chuk in the game. The result marked a dramatic collapse for Chuk, who had previously been part of the powerful Toolshed alliance alongside Haley, Kamu, Devens, Dee, Angela, Barrett and Drew. That alliance had begun falling apart following Lyric’s surprise eviction the previous week, leaving Chuk increasingly exposed as the house reorganized into new groups.
Chuk also made his feelings toward Lala clear on his way out. He noticeably did not hug the HOH before leaving the house. During his interview with Julie Chen Moonves, Chuk explained that the moment came after Lala had refused to shake his hand before the BB Blockbuster. He also indicated that Lala would have been one of his targets had he survived the vote and later gained power.
The eviction could have major consequences for the remaining players. Haley survived another dangerous week, but she has now lost one of her closest allies. Meanwhile, the near-unanimous vote against Chuk shows how quickly the house has shifted following the breakup of the Toolshed. Players who once appeared protected by a dominant alliance are now being forced to build new relationships as the battle for control of Big Brother 28 becomes increasingly unpredictable.
