CBS has officially locked in the schedule for Big Brother 28, and fans are getting more extended episodes than ever before. The new season premieres Thursday, July 9, with a special 90-minute launch episode, followed by another supersized Sunday installment on July 12. After premiere week, the show will settle into its regular weekly lineup with 90-minute Wednesday episodes and hour-long Thursday and Sunday broadcasts.
According to CBS, Season 28 will feature the most programming hours in franchise history as the long-running reality competition approaches a major milestone: becoming the first primetime series to hit 1,000 original episodes. Host Julie Chen Moonves is returning once again to guide Houseguests through another unpredictable summer filled with twists, strategy, and live evictions.
The companion series Big Brother: Unlocked is also making a comeback on Friday, July 10. This season, the aftershow is adding a live studio audience for the first time, along with exclusive footage, interviews, surprise guests, and behind-the-scenes content from inside the house.

Fans online have already started debating whether the expanded 90-minute format will improve storytelling or create too much filler. Some viewers on Reddit are excited for more strategy and feed content to make the broadcast episodes, while others worry production could stretch less important moments across the longer runtime.
