Big Brother 27: Rachel Reilly Reacts to Controversial Exit from The Show

Rachel Reilly returned to the Big Brother house for Season 27 carrying the reputation of a legendary player — and the kind of target that usually comes with it. Despite playing a bold, aggressive game, Rachel managed to avoid the nomination block entirely in a season where up to four houseguests were nominated each week.

Her luck ran out, however, thanks to a twisty competition that left her with no chance to fight for her survival.

The Mastermind’s Maniacal Maze — a returning challenge from Big Brother Reindeer Games — required houseguests to guide a ball through a hamster wheel maze. Each player had less time than the one before them. Ava Pearl, the White Locust competition winner, picked Vince Panaro to go first with six and a half minutes. Vince chose Lauren Domingue to follow, leaving Morgan Pope third. By the time Rachel was forced into the fourth slot, she was left with just three and a half minutes. She couldn’t finish, and her game ended abruptly with a ticket straight to the jury house.

Unlike Reindeer Games, where no one faced eviction, this twist in the main series left Rachel eliminated without the chance to rely on her social or strategic skills. Speaking with us on her way to jury, the Big Brother legend shared her frustrations, disappointment, and perspective on how it all played out.

On being eliminated without a chance to play socially or strategically

Rachel admitted the experience was frustrating:

“Being eliminated by a hamster wheel twist was really tough. I feel like if I had another chance to strategize, campaign, or even compete in a different challenge, could have stayed. Overthought it, lost focus, and with just three and a half minutes, I didn’t pull it off. I did my best, but it was frustrating.”

On playing her strongest game yet

Rachel believes she was in one of her best positions ever before the twist cut her game short:

“It’s frustrating because I truly set myself up for the jury. I had built relationships and was in a strong spot socially and strategically — better than I ever was in Seasons 12 and 13. I even won when I needed to. I could see myself in those final two chairs. To be taken out by a twist? That’s rough. But as they say, expect the unexpected.”

On Ava choosing Vince first

Rachel revealed disappointment in her ally Ava for not listening to her plea:

“I was really let down. Ava and I had a Final 2, and I thought we were on the same page. I explained the strategy of the maze, but she didn’t go with it. I think Keanu distracting her in that moment didn’t help either. She could have picked anyone, but she didn’t pick me — and it cost me.”

On Vince picking Lauren over Morgan

Rachel also questioned Vince’s loyalty:

“When Vince chose Lauren instead of Morgan, I was shocked. It showed where his true alliance was, and I thought it was a slap in the face to Morgan after everything she’d done for him. If I’d had just one more minute, I honestly think I could’ve finished the maze. Instead, I went in panicked and doubting myself.”

On feeling like she let people down

Rachel admitted she felt disappointed but proud of her evolution as a player:

“I didn’t come back to coast. I wanted to actively play and bring others along with me. I do feel like I let myself down, and in a way, that means I let others down too. But I know I gave everything I had, and I hope fans enjoyed watching. I believe we’ll get a great winner this season, and I’m excited to see how it all ends.”

Rachel Reilly may not have had the ending she envisioned, but she leaves Big Brother 27 with her reputation intact — a fierce competitor, an evolved strategist, and a fan favorite whose exit will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the season’s most controversial.
