New information has emerged surrounding the death of former Big Brother contestant Amber Siyavus, who passed away on October 9, 2026, at the age of 46.
According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report obtained by TMZ, officers discovered suspected drug paraphernalia and an unidentified white powder near Amber’s body after her aunt found her unresponsive in a bedroom.
The new details shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death, although authorities have yet to confirm the official cause.
Police Report Reveals Details About Amber Siyavus’ Final Hours
According to the report, Amber’s aunt noticed her lying sideways in bed around 7 a.m. on October 9. Initially, she assumed Amber was asleep and returned to bed.
However, when she checked again around 11 a.m., Amber remained in the same position and did not respond. Her aunt immediately contacted emergency services.
During the 911 call, dispatchers learned that Amber was not breathing and felt cold to the touch. Authorities later pronounced her dead at 1:40 p.m. Investigators reported finding what appeared to be a white snorting straw and a lighter in Amber’s hands.
When officers moved her body, they discovered aluminum foil with burnt residue and a small plastic bag containing an unidentified white powder underneath her. Police also found several prescription medications and four Narcan nasal sprays inside her luggage. Narcan is an emergency medication that can reverse opioid overdoses.
The police report also included information about Amber’s previous struggles with substance use.
Her aunt told investigators that Amber had previously attended rehabilitation for heroin and prescription pill use. She also explained that Amber had recently traveled from Michigan to Las Vegas to visit her mother.
Despite the items investigators discovered, authorities have not determined whether drugs contributed to her death. The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner has not publicly released an official cause or manner of death.

Amber became a familiar face to reality television fans when she competed on Big Brother Season 8 in 2007. The Las Vegas cocktail waitress entered the house as a single mother and quickly gained attention for her emotional personality.
Her frequent tears earned her the nickname “Whamber,” which became one of her most recognizable connections to the season. Throughout the competition, Amber developed close friendships with fellow houseguests Jameka Cameron and Dustin Erikstrup.
She ultimately finished in seventh place and joined the jury that helped determine the season’s winner. Although Amber did not win the competition, her emotional moments and personal conversations made her a memorable contestant.
Following news of her death, longtime Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves paid tribute to Amber on Instagram, remembering her for her heart and honesty.
Amber Previously Faced the Loss of Her Daughter
Amber’s death comes eight years after another heartbreaking tragedy affected her family. In January 2018, her 18-year-old daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, died in Ohio in what authorities investigated as an apparent suicide.
During her time on Big Brother, Amber frequently spoke about her daughter and the difficulties of being away from her while filming the show. In a previous interview with BuddyTV, Amber described the close relationship they shared and explained how regularly they communicated before she entered the house.
She recalled speaking with Lexi several times a day, including before school and at bedtime.
“My daughter is my life… I love my daughter, me and her are best friends,” Amber said at the time. She also shared how proud Lexi was of her appearance on Big Brother and how much she looked forward to reuniting with her after the competition.
Those memories have taken on added significance following Amber’s death. As investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding her passing, the Big Brother community remembers Amber for the emotional honesty and personality she brought to the show.
For now, her official cause of death remains pending.
