Big Brother 28 is throwing out the normal rulebook for its next major twist. During the show’s milestone 1,000th episode, Julie Chen Moonves revealed that the remaining houseguests are about to enter the Medieval Games, a special twist that will replace the usual weekly structure.
There will be no Head of Household, no Power of Veto, no normal nominations and no BB Block Buster. Instead, the houseguests will face a series of medieval-themed challenges, and Julie delivered the biggest warning of all: someone’s game will end before the next live eviction.
The Normal Big Brother Week Is Gone
Normally, a new Big Brother week begins with an HOH competition, followed by nominations, the Veto and eventually the live eviction vote. This time, that entire structure has been removed, leaving the houseguests without the usual protections that come with winning HOH or Veto.

Big Brother has not yet revealed exactly how the Medieval Games will work, but the twist appears to be more than just a themed competition. Since someone will leave before the next live eviction, the Games could directly determine who is eliminated.
That could mean the houseguests compete through several rounds, the final loser is eliminated, or a winner gains some kind of power over another player. For now, the exact rules remain secret.
Julie also indicated that players hoping to reach jury must first survive the twist, making the Medieval Games especially important for everyone still in the house.
Former Houseguests Return for the Twist
Big Brother also brought back Britney Haynes, Tiffany Mitchell, Keanu Soto and Cody Calafiore, who appeared dressed in medieval-style costumes and will be involved in the Games.
Their exact roles have not been explained, but they could host challenges, oversee different stages of the twist or introduce special powers and punishments.
Adding even more mystery, the live feeds have been shut down for an extended period, preventing fans from seeing what is happening inside the house before the next episode. That strongly suggests producers are trying to keep a major outcome from leaking.
The Timing Could Not Be More Dangerous
The twist arrives just after a chaotic Week 7 eviction in which Drew saved himself by winning the Block Buster before Mallory was evicted 6–2.
That week exposed several cracks in the house. Barrett had been pushing for a possible blindside against Drew, Melody sided with Barrett in the final vote, and Dee’s HOH decisions damaged trust with several players.
Normally, the next HOH competition would determine which side gets control. Instead, Big Brother has removed HOH power completely and thrown everyone into the Medieval Games.
That could be dangerous for players who rely heavily on alliances, because strong numbers may not matter if survival comes down to the new competitions. At the same time, someone near the bottom of the house could suddenly improve their position by performing well.
Could Two Houseguests Leave?
Julie’s wording has also raised one major question. If someone’s game ends before the next live eviction, could another player still leave during the regularly scheduled eviction?
Big Brother has not confirmed that, so it is too early to call this a double eviction. Still, the possibility remains open and adds even more uncertainty to the twist.
For now, Big Brother 28 has removed the HOH, Veto, nominations and Block Buster and replaced them with a mysterious game that could send someone home without the usual eviction vote.
One thing is certain: someone’s Big Brother 28 journey is about to end, and this time the house may not get to decide who it is.
