Chuk Anyanwu may be out of the Big Brother 28 house, but he is not backing down from criticism of his game. Following his 9-1 eviction, Chuk opened up to EW about the vote that sent him home, his frustration with former allies and Taylor Brown’s harsh assessment of how he played.
Chuk admitted he was stunned by how badly the vote went against him. After Haley won the BB Block Buster, he believed he still had enough support from members of the Red Corner alliance to survive against Barrett. Instead, Haley became the only houseguest to vote to keep him. The vote that surprised him most came from Yash, someone Chuk considered one of his closest connections in the house.
“I can’t believe Yash let me down,” Chuk said while discussing the eviction. He explained that he had spent a lot of time building a relationship with Yash and believed he could count on him when it mattered. However, Chuk also acknowledged that Yash may have decided voting with the majority was better for his own game.
Chuk also addressed his tense exit involving former HOH LaLa. Viewers saw him refuse to hug LaLa as he left the house. Chuk said the move was intentional after LaLa ignored his attempted handshake before the Block Buster competition. Although LaLa had given him Oreos earlier in the day, Chuk said he remembered how she treated him before the competition and decided not to embrace her on the way out.
Another major disappointment for Chuk was Kamu Kirk’s decision not to use the Power of Veto on either him or Haley. Chuk said he had chosen Kamu to compete in the Veto instead of Yash and immediately regretted the decision when Kamu won but kept the nominations the same.
Despite being hurt by Kamu’s decision, Chuk surprisingly named him as the person currently playing the best game in the house. According to Chuk, Kamu has a strong social game, performs well in competitions and has significant influence over other players.
Chuk also revealed that he had become convinced Dee was behind the second mystery vote against Lyric. Angela eventually admitted to casting one of the votes, but Chuk said he and Haley believed Dee was responsible for the other. He accused Dee of helping organize the last-minute vote flip and said her behavior afterward only increased his suspicions.
However, some of Chuk’s strongest comments were reserved for Taylor Brown.
During Chuk’s final days in the house, Taylor attempted to give him advice about how he should campaign to stay. She later criticized his game in the Diary Room and suggested that Chuk did not listen when other players tried to help him.
Chuk strongly rejected that assessment.
He argued that Taylor was not in a position to lecture him about campaigning after she had already faced the block multiple times herself. Chuk described Taylor’s strategy as much more passive than his own and suggested she had spent much of the game floating rather than building strong alliances.
“She should be someone to take her own advice,” Chuk said.
Chuk acknowledged that Taylor is a Big Brother superfan who understands the game, but he believes having so much knowledge may actually have hurt her ability to play effectively. He said he would have been much more willing to listen to advice from players such as Kamu, Haley, Devens, Dee or Yash.
“There was no way I was taking advice from Taylor on how to play the game,” Chuk said, making it clear that his opinion had not changed after leaving the house.
Despite the disappointment of his eviction, Chuk remains confident in several relationships he built during the season and especially praised Haley, whom he described as his best friend inside the house.
His biggest prediction moving forward? Keep an eye on Kamu.
Chuk believes his former ally has the competition ability, social connections and strategic influence required to go all the way. But with Chuk no longer around as a potential shield, Kamu’s growing threat level could soon become much harder for the rest of the house to ignore.
Chuk may have become the fifth houseguest evicted from Big Brother 28, but judging from his post-eviction comments, his departure has only added another layer to the fractured alliances and unfinished rivalries shaping the game.
