Big Brother season 26 may have just begun on CBS, but the network is shaking things up with its schedule and changing the timing of its episodes just a week after the season premiere. Big Brother 26 has already been a whirlwind of strategic competition and juicy drama, but with only a few episodes of the season having aired thus far, there’s only been a little bit of time to get to know the new houseguests. With an AI twist impacting the game, everything has changed for the new set of BB houseguests who have just started understanding the game.

According to a Paramount press releasethe CBS lineup will be changing things up throughout the rest of the Big Brother season. The series has typically had episodes three nights per week, usually airing in different time slots, but this season it began with the hopes that BB would air at 9 p.m. EDT each of the nights it was on. Paramount has shared that Big Brother’s scheduled episodes will be shifting. Big Brother 26 will air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT (starting July 25th), Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT (starting July 31st), and Sundays staying at 9 p.m. EDT for the moment.

While Big Brother fans are used to changes in the schedule of the series after having dealt with them for years, the BB 26 schedule could impact ratings, at least for the beginning of the new rollout. After years of having episodes scheduled at different times and days that were difficult to keep track of, Big Brother fans were excited to have the weekly episodes of the series scheduled at the same time across the week. The original schedule saw BB 26 airing on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT consistently, and the shift could be confusing.

While it’s unlikely that Big Brother 26’s ratings will be impacted in the long term, things could be shakey during the first few episodes of the new schedule. With two of the week’s episodes airing an hour earlier than viewers anticipate, some episodes during this week’s run could be missed. Overall, the schedule change probably won’t impact the ratings for the show, which are typically on the lower side anyway. While Big Brother is a hit on social media and brings in a consistent viewership, the series’ ratings are usually lower during the weekly episodes early in the season.

With Big Brother 26 announcing some major changes to its schedule, the series is shaking things up quite early in the season. As there’s only been one week of episodes aired for the series, the fallout from the schedule changes will likely be minimal, but fans are still going to experience some confusion surrounding the weekly episodes after adjusting to the time change. Even with the scheduling shift, Big Brother 26’s episodes will still air on the same days. With the competition in the house just getting started, things will be worth watching from week to week on Big Brother.
