Big Brother Season 27: Mystery Hotel Theme and House Officially Revealed

For 25 years, Big Brother has lived by the phrase, “Expect the unexpected”—and Season 27 looks to take that motto to an entirely new level. CBS has officially revealed the theme for the upcoming season: “A Summer of Mystery.” Fans can expect twists, turns, and secrets galore, starting with a house designed to look like a mystery-filled hotel and a premiere packed with surprises—including the debut of a “Mystery Houseguest.”

According to CBS, this year’s contestants will reside in the enigmatic Hotel Mystère, a house where secrets lurk around every corner and nothing is what it seems. The 90-minute season premiere on July 10 promises to throw the houseguests into chaos right away, featuring a masked houseguest, a secret accomplice, and the shocking arrival of a houseguest whose identity will remain hidden—at least for now.

While many details remain under wraps, fans are already speculating about the roles of these mysterious characters. Could the masked visitor and their accomplice become season-long antagonists, similar to the AI “Ainsley” from last season? Might the mystery houseguest be a returning player like Paul Abrahamian (BB19), or even a celebrity surprise akin to Survivor’s Cirie Fields joining in Season 25? With the full cast reveal expected early next week, the buzz is only building.

Inside the Big Brother 27 House: Hotel Mystère

Alongside the theme reveal, CBS also gave fans their first look at this season’s revamped house. As always, Big Brother has transformed the interior into a unique, immersive space—this time turning it into a mysterious, puzzle-filled hotel packed with secrets. Hidden passageways, cryptic keys, and intriguing clues are scattered throughout the house, hinting at twists to come.

Some standout features of Hotel Mystère include:

Living Room Chess Guardians: Towering 22-foot walls and a balcony adorned with massive chess pieces—king, queen, bishop, and knight—set the tone for a game of strategy and deception.

Attic Bedroom of Oddities: This eerie space features beds made from wooden crates, creepy rubber masks on the walls, and strange artifacts like a knight’s helmet and a vintage diving suit.

Sleeper Car Bunk Room: Hidden behind a secret door, this Art Deco, train-inspired room houses six bunk beds—the first time bunks have appeared in the house since Season 1. It feels straight out of a classic whodunit novel.

Rooftop Garden Kitchen: Mimicking a rooftop party, the kitchen includes ivy-covered walls, a glowing sunset ceiling, and a 10-foot circular table under strings of lights—perfect for garden gossip.

The “Wine Cellar”: A dim, bottle-lined room (sans actual wine) offers the ideal setting for late-night scheming and whispered alliances.

Victorian Conservatory Lounge: Filled with lush greenery and anchored by a 13-foot velvet couch, this room offers a peaceful corner for private strategy talks.

Venom Lounge & Poison Bar: Upstairs, snakes slither across dark wallpaper in a moody lounge that includes a faux “Poison Bar,” velvet daybed, and mischievous ravens swiping string lights.

Boxing Ring Gym: Equipped with a full-sized boxing ring, punching bag, and training equipment, this room gives houseguests a place to blow off steam—and stay in game shape.

With the eerie hotel theme, layered twists, and a shrouded new houseguest, Big Brother 27 is shaping up to be one of the show’s most unpredictable seasons yet. Buckle up—mystery awaits when the doors to Hotel Mystère open on Thursday, July 10.
