Zach Cornell seemed poised for a smooth run in Big Brother 27, but Ava Pearl’s Head of Household reign quickly turned his game upside down. Even after he was nominated and failed to win the Veto, most houseguests and fans assumed Zach was safe. After all, he held a special power that allowed him to trade $10,000 for guaranteed protection from eviction.
In a shocking twist, Zach chose not to use it. That decision sealed his fate, and he was evicted in an 8-2 vote against Vince Panaro.

Now, one week later, Zach is reflecting on the move that sent him home. In a post-eviction interview with CinemaBlend, he admitted that passing up his safety net is a decision he’ll always regret.
Zach explained:
“I wanted to stay in the game, so that ultimately was a decision that did sting. I know that I was really rolling the dice not using the power, but I can’t complain. I’m very blessed having the $10,000. I’m gonna be able to do stuff, take my family places. I do know that my family is leaving for the Philippines in about 2 weeks, and so that’s something that I can help out in terms of the trip and everything like that.”
“If I had known stuff that I know now, I would have gone back obviously to change that and use the power, but like I can’t, you know, everything happens for a reason is what I always say in those moments, and there’s a reason why I’m sitting here talking to you.”
“I should have saved myself,” Zach confessed, acknowledging that holding onto the $10,000 wasn’t worth the risk.
Since leaving the house, Zach has been catching up on the season and watching how the game unfolded without him. Looking back, he wishes he had stuck around to experience Rachel Reilly’s HoH week and keep his game alive. Still, he recognizes that hindsight is always 20/20—and while he walked away with money, he also walked away with one of the most talked-about blunders in Big Brother history.
