Next up is Big Brother 27 houseguest Cliffton Williams—better known as Captain Will—a 50-year-old Houseguest joining the cast. And look, let’s be honest here: history has not been kind to older players when it comes to actually winning Big Brother. As much as it pains me to say, the odds are firmly stacked against him.
This isn’t to say older contestants can’t be great players or compelling TV. Far from it. We’ve seen plenty of older Houseguests who are incredibly likable, charismatic, and level-headed. Kevin, for example, was a fan favorite and a genuinely beloved presence in the house. But even he, despite making it far, was never truly in contention for the grand prize—and that’s largely due to an unspoken generational gap that always seems to form in the game.

Ageism in Big Brother isn’t overt or intentional, but it’s real. The house is typically dominated by younger players who naturally form bonds faster, relate to each other more easily, and often exclude older contestants without even realizing it.
So, will Captain Will be a fun, charming presence? Hopefully! I’d love to see him prove everyone wrong and make a deep run. But when it comes to betting on a winner, let’s just say I wouldn’t put my money on him.
Here’s hoping he brings something refreshing to the house and sticks around long enough to shake things up.
