Heading into the 24th episode of “Big Brother 26,” Leah Peters had just used the Veto to save Angela Murray, which caused Head of Household Quinn Martin to name a replacement nominee. To avoid putting up anyone who flipped on his nemesis Tucker Des Lauriers last week, Quinn threw his bestie Joseph Rodriguez on the block, who is now in jeopardy alongside Kimo Apaka and Rubina Bernabe. So which houseguest was evicted live on Thursday night?
Below, read the minute-by-minute “Big Brother” Season 26, Episode 24 live eviction recap to find out what happened on the night of Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Here are the names of the 10 remaining houseguests: Angela Murray, Cam Sullivan-Brown, Chelsie Baham, Joseph Rodriguez, Kimo Apaka, Leah Peters, Makensy Manbeck, Quinn Martin, Rubina Bernabe and T’kor Clottey.
8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Big Brother’!” In the 23rd episode, the Power of Veto competition took place in the backyard, which featured six players competing in “Bot Builders,” a race in the A.I. Bot Self Assembly Facility. Competitors had to assemble a bot quicker than anyone else — completely in the dark! The non-players had the privilege of watching from inside the house with view screens showing each of the players competing. With this view they got to see that Joseph was not trying very hard to compete, which Chelsie knew was his strategy for the game. Rubina was the first to test her bot, but she was incorrect with only 9 of 11 correct parts. Quinn was also wrong with 8 of 11 correct and then 9 of 11 and then 10 of 11, not knowing that he had earlier tossed one of his bot legs across the dark room and lost track of it. In the time of his struggle, Leah buzzed in and was correct, earning the Power of Veto. She decided saving Angela was best for her game, forcing Quinn to nominate Joseph. Who will be voted out tonight? Let’s go!
8:04 p.m. – At the top of the episode, Julie pointed out two important stats so far this season. First, the only people evicted so far all said “no” in the premiere question about whether or not they want Ainsley to enter the game. Second, every veto that has been won so far this season has been used.
8:06 p.m. – Joseph was confused at why Quinn nominated him since they’re “close allies.” He said that it’s “101” as a superfan to not put your best ally on the block and yet Quinn still did it. With his desired target Angela removed from the block, Quinn was now “looking for a new target.” Now that he was on the block, Joseph kept his cool to Quinn’s face, but in the diary room he insisted that he’ll be nominating Quinn if he gets HOH next week. Meanwhile, Quinn’s first instinct was to do what he can to protect Joseph this week because he wants Joseph on the jury and then there’s Rubina and Kimo that have a strong reason to come for Quinn.
8:08 p.m. – Wanting to protect Rubina and Kimo, T’Kor needed to rally enough votes to prepare to save them if either of them are still on the block against Joseph. She thought it would be easy enough to get Angela on side against Joseph, but she’d still need a fourth vote to secure the majority. Elsewhere, knowing that he made Angela feel bad and the tables have turned, Joseph apologized to her for throwing her game under the bus the night before the veto meeting and admitted that the irony is not lost on him that he’s now vulnerable and she isn’t.
8:10 p.m. – In the HOH room, Quinn, Cam, Chelsie and Makensy discussed their options for the vote. With Quinn out of the vote, they knew that they also needed a fourth vote on their side and eyed Leah as their best option. Quinn and Cam agreed that they should keep Joseph because Kimo and Rubina are more likely to come for them, but Chelsie was privately unsure that it would be in her best interest to keep Joseph.
8:16 p.m. – Even after Leah blew up both Quinn and Joseph’s games, they found it impossible to stay mad at her. It was as easy as Leah telling Joseph that she doesn’t want him out of the game and insisting that he’ll be okay. At the same time, Joseph was beefing up the tears to look vulnerable in front of them, but Quinn wondered if he was putting it on or not.
8:18 p.m. – While those showmances were going nowhere quick, Chelsie started to “feel a way” the more she caught glimpses of Makensy and Cam getting closer physically. The more overt their affection got, the more apparent it was to everyone that Chelsie didn’t want to be around it. Chelsie confessed to T’Kor that she was getting annoyed, opening the door for T’Kor to pull in Chelsie to as a number to help her evict Joseph. T’Kor told Chelsie that she is her priority with Rubina and so it started to make sense for Chelsie that there is a path this week for her to do what’s best for her, which is to evict Joseph.
8:26 p.m. – For this week’s A.I. Arena comp, the three nominees competed in “Bandwidth Boosters,” a race to untangle themselves from a cable twisted around a structure so that they’d be able to cross the arena and hit their button first. Right away it looked like Rubina was moving through the comp quickest while Joseph was only getting more and more tangled up. Kimo started off slow, but eventually appeared to catch up to Rubina. Twice Rubina ran out to see if she had enough slack to reach the button, but didn’t and then on her third attempt she was able to secure her safety with a win!
8:36 p.m. – All the women of the house were elated to learn that Rubina was the winner in the arena, but it quickly became an emotional moment as they realized it meant that Kimo was still in danger. Joseph insisted on staying in the bedroom when all the houseguests tried to retreat to discuss their plan, leaving no time for a consensus to be formed before Julie called everyone back to the living room.
8:38 p.m. – In their final speeches, Joseph asserted that he’s a loyal player and asked that they keep their word to him that he’ll be safe. Kimo touched on his dream of being in the house and the opportunity to at least make jury for queer and native Hawaiian visibility.
8:40 p.m. – The votes to evict were cast from the diary room: Makensy voted to evict Joseph, Cam voted to evict Kimo…
8:45 p.m. – … Leah voted to evict Kimo, T’Kor voted to evict Joseph, Rubina voted to evict Joseph, Angela voted to evict Kimo, and Chelsie voted to evict Joseph. Hilariously, Angela said that she “doesn’t have the votes to save Kimo” and so she voted him out, even though the numbers were in his favor.
8:48 p.m. – Quinn and Angela were the most shocked to learn that Joseph was evicted by a 4-3 vote, leaving their jaws on the floor as he walked out of the house.
8:52 p.m. – In his exit interview with Julie, Joseph admitted surprise that he was evicted because he thought people would keep their word to him. When pressed, he said that Cam, Chelsie and Makensy all said they would protect him and that he and Rubina would vote Kimo out to save each other. Joseph said he knew that Chelsie would vote him out because they’ve had a “rocky relationship.” In the end, he felt like he’d be a hypocrite to be mad at any of them, so he understood why people would vote him out. He thinks that the house saw Joseph as a “more strategic” player in the game compared to Kimo. He also said that he should have gone to both Quinn and Leah to stress that they shouldn’t have put him in a vulnerable position, but admitted that he didn’t think either of them would make moves to put him in jeopardy.
8:58 p.m. – Before departing for the night, Ainsley popped up on the living room screen to inform the houseguests that they all made it to at least jury and that she was “officially ending the A.I. Arena” and the next HOH will only nominate two people instead of three.
