Jason De Puy may have left the Big Brother 28 house in a unanimous vote, but his dramatic final week ensured he did not leave quietly.
Following his eviction, Jason spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his 12-0 exit, his tense confrontation with Kamu Kirk and the houseguests he has no interest in reconnecting with after the season.
Jason admitted that receiving no votes to stay was painful, especially because he had hoped that at least a few players would support him. However, he also understood why the house voted together, noting that he had made a similar decision when voting Rome out the previous week.
He was encouraged to learn that Melody and others had discussed keeping him, even though they ultimately did not have enough support to change the outcome.
Did Jason Feel Bullied by Kamu?
During his final speech, Jason warned the other houseguests that the dominant side of the house would corner, bully and intimidate anyone who stood in its way.
However, when asked whether he genuinely felt bullied or harassed, Jason said his speech was partly intended to frighten the other players into taking action. He wanted them to understand what could happen if they allowed the powerful group to continue controlling the game.
Jason nevertheless described his confrontation with Kamu during Mallory’s tea party as a major personal moment. Kamu publicly accused him of dishonesty and exposed his gameplay in front of the house, turning what was supposed to be a lighthearted gathering into a heated confrontation.
Jason said he realised nobody was going to defend him, forcing him to speak up for himself. Although he is familiar with criticism from his time on RuPaul’s Drag Race, he explained that defending himself directly was something he had not always been comfortable doing.
He believed Kamu was uncomfortable with his personality and authenticity, and Jason decided that if Kamu was going to make him uncomfortable, he would return the same energy.
The confrontation later inspired Jason’s memorable decision to walk around the house banging a teapot as a way of trolling Kamu.
Jason Believes He Exposed Kamu’s Plan
Jason also maintained that his suspicions about Kamu’s strategy were correct.
While Kamu accused him of lying and spreading conflicting information, Jason believed he had accurately identified the plan to backdoor him, similar to what had happened to Rome.
According to Jason, the majority alliance was becoming predictable. He felt that recognising their strategy may have made him an even bigger threat because he was willing to openly expose what they were doing.
Despite the unanimous vote, Jason remained proud that he challenged the people controlling the house instead of quietly accepting his eviction.
No Goodbye for Kamu, Chuk or Haley
Jason deliberately avoided hugging or saying goodbye to Kamu, Chuk and Haley after his eviction.
He explained that the trio had already achieved what they wanted by removing him from the game, so he did not feel obligated to give them a warm farewell.
When asked which houseguests he would not want to speak to after the season, Jason again named Kamu, Chuk and Haley. He said they were not the type of people he could see himself having a relationship with outside the game.
In contrast, Jason spoke warmly about several other players. He described La Trice as a mother figure and said their shared backgrounds in entertainment helped them connect.
He named Taylor and Barrett as his favourite people in the house and said he could imagine spending time with them after the season. Jason was also close to Lyric, although he sometimes questioned whether her sweet personality was genuine or part of her strategy.
Why Jason Thought America Disliked Him
Jason revealed that his previous experience with the Drag Race fandom affected how he viewed the public’s reaction to him on Big Brother.
After Angela received the first public power, Jason began wondering whether viewers disliked him for playing too aggressively or being manipulative. Angela also suggested during their argument that America supported her and would dislike anyone who went against her.
Those comments stayed with Jason. When he failed to receive the next power, he became even more convinced that the audience was not supporting him.
Jason also addressed the eye-roll that damaged his relationship with Angela. After appearing to comfort her emotionally, he looked toward the camera in a way that suggested the moment was not sincere.
He explained that the expression was intended as a reference for fans who remembered a similar moment from his time on Drag Race. Instead, the gesture created distrust and contributed to the breakdown of his game.
Jason acknowledged that his experience might have been very different had he avoided that moment.
Keeping His Drag Race History Secret
Before entering the house, Jason was already known to reality television fans as Salina EsTitties from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
However, he chose not to reveal that background to the other houseguests. Jason worried that exposing his reality television experience would place an even larger target on him, particularly when Rick, Dee and the other returning television personalities had entered the game with official “icon” status.
Jason also felt that some of the established reality stars were threatened by his ability to command attention without the other players knowing about his television career.
He specifically suggested that Devens sometimes appeared uncomfortable when Jason became the centre of attention. Jason also believed Angela did not expect him to challenge her so directly during their argument.
Although he did not reveal his past, Jason felt his natural showmanship still came through.
Jason’s Message to Frankie Grande
Jason ended the interview with a message for his friend and Big Brother mentor Frankie Grande.
He apologised for not advancing further in the competition, admitting that reaching the jury stage had been one of his main goals. Despite leaving earlier than he hoped, Jason said he wanted Frankie to be proud of the impact he made.
Jason may not have controlled the votes, but his arguments, teapot protest and willingness to confront the dominant alliance made him one of the season’s most memorable early evictees.
