Big Brother 28 Set for Explosive July Return With Historic Milestone — Here’s What Fans Can Expect

CBS has officially confirmed that Big Brother Season 28 will premiere on July 9, 2026, and fans are already preparing for what could become one of the biggest seasons in the show’s history. The long-running reality competition series is not only returning with expanded episodes and more twists, but it will also hit a massive television milestone during the upcoming season.

According to multiple reports, the new season will kick off with a special 90-minute premiere episode airing Thursday, July 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Another extended 90-minute episode is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, before the series settles into its regular weekly schedule.

Host Julie Chen Moonves is officially returning once again to guide a brand-new group of Houseguests through another unpredictable summer filled with alliances, betrayals, competitions, and shocking evictions. CBS is teasing Season 28 as the “biggest season yet,” promising more programming hours than ever before in franchise history.

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the upcoming season is the historic milestone the show is about to achieve. During Season 28, Big Brother will officially air its 1,000th original episode, making it the first primetime reality competition series to reach that number. The accomplishment highlights the show’s incredible staying power after first premiering back in 2000.

Fans can also expect the return of Big Brother: Unlocked, the companion series that gives viewers behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive interviews, live audience interactions, and analysis from former players and guest stars. Reports say the companion show will now feature a live studio audience for the first time.

Although CBS has not yet revealed the official cast or this season’s theme, speculation is already spreading across the fandom. After Season 27 introduced mystery-themed gameplay and controversial twists, viewers are wondering whether producers will continue experimenting with the format or return to a more traditional style of gameplay.

As always, live feeds are expected to return on Paramount+
and Pluto TV
, allowing fans to watch the Houseguests 24/7 throughout the summer.

With longer episodes, milestone celebrations, and a fresh group of contestants ready to compete for the grand prize, Season 28 is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated installments of Big Brother in years. Fans won’t have to wait much longer before the chaos officially begins on July 9.
