Big Brother 26 episode 5 live recap: Was Kenney, Kimo or Matt evicted? — Find out here!

Heading into the fifth episode of “Big Brother 26,” Angela Murray had an epic meltdown and went on a delusional rampage. Her attacks were focused on Matt Hardeman, who she accused of threatening her and organizing a plot to have a fake alliance lie to her. While the threat was somewhat real (not quite as scary as she portrayed it), the alliance proposed to her by Quinn Martin and Joseph Rodriguez was completely real and had nothing to do with Matt (whoopsie!). After Angela’s unhinged tirade, nobody in the house seems keen on working with her ever again.

In the Veto competition, Lisa Weintraub prevailed and took herself off the block. Angela replaced Lisa with Matt, who joins Kenney Kelley and Kimo Apaka as nominees for eviction. Who will save themselves in tonight’s AI Arena? And who will be this season’s first evicted houseguest?

Below, read our minute-by-minute “Big Brother” Season 26, Episode 5 recap/live blog to find out what happened on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Then be sure to sound off in the comments section about your favorite “BB26” houseguests on CBS‘s reality TV show, who annoys you the most and who you think will ultimately join the “Big Brother” winners list.

8:12 p.m. — Following the Veto meeting, Angela confirms that Matt is now her top target. She’d love to see “Crazy Eyes” go out the door. Matt is still completely perplexed why Angela is so fixated on him. He pledges to go after her if he wins HOH next week, which could rally votes to save him. Later on in the backyard, Matt and Kenney focus in on one of them winning the A.I. Arena so they’re not on the block against each other. If they are, Kenney has thrown in the towel and says he’d be happy watching “Big Brother” from home. What a waste of casting. The guy is checked out within a week. Matt continues to campaign and it sounds like Lisa is on his side. Next, Matt focuses in on Quinn, who tells him it would be hard for him to vote against Kimo. In the Diary Room, Quinn confesses he’d love to send Matt packing, but The Collective has not been able to meet since Angela called out their alliance. As a last-ditch effort, Matt forms an eight-person alliance called The Barbershop aka “BS.” People are saying they’re willing to join, but Cam and Brooklyn are hesitant, stating they’d both like to get rid of him. Still, it sounds like he has the votes, and nobody wants to be on the wrong side of the vote. Apparently Matt will be able to save himself purely because nobody else talks to each other? Interesting.

8:25 p.m. — Matt and Makensy continue flirting in the backyard. Inside, Lisa refuses to commit her vote for Kimo to stay. Kimo is growing frustrated that nobody can commit to a vote because there are three different possible matchups. Kimo believes he’s at risk of going home and T’Kor agrees. She tells him he has to win in the A.I. Arena. Those statements are echoed by Brooklyn, and Kimo is deflated. In the kitchen, Angela expresses her disappointment in Kenney. He’s completely given up on this game and says he’s perfectly fine cheering on Matt from the sidelines. Angela is fuming. She says her actions are more admirable than Kenney’s. Quinn is also blown away, but wisely keeps his mouth shut, only sharing in the Diary Room, “Kenney has known Matt for a week!” Now Kenney is upset. He’s pumped up to win the A.I. Arena, vote for Matt to stay, and go after Angela.

8:30 p.m. — It’s time for Kenney, Kimo and Matt to face off in the A.I. Arena. Ainsley explains the rules of this game. It’s called “Glitch in the System.” Images of their housemates will multiply on digital displays. There are 16 screens full of multiplied houseguests. The players have two minutes to review each of the screens and figure out which houseguest is seen the most. It’s tricky because some screens feature just one houseguest multiple times and other screens feature multiple houseguests. As time winds down, all three choose their answers and they’re all different. The houseguest who appeared the most was Quinn — and the winner is Kimo, who guessed correctly! Kenney and Matt both had the wrong answer. Next, Matt or Kenney will become the first houseguest evicted from BB26.

8:45 p.m. — Julie reveals to the other houseguests that Kimo won the A.I. Arena. Angela screams with glee, thrilled one of her sworn enemies will be heading out the door. Matt and Kenney have just 60 seconds to campaign. They refuse to campaign against each other, and both say they’d love to stay in the game. I’m happy to hear Kenney has not completely rolled over and died. Matt forgives Angela during his speech, even though she didn’t ask for forgiveness. She rolls her eyes at him. Here’s how the votes play out:

Votes for Matt to be evicted: Kimo, T’Kor, Brooklyn, Rubina, Quinn, Cam, Tucker, Joseph
Votes for Kenney to be evicted: Lisa, Makensy, Leah

8:52 p.m. — By a vote of 8-3, Matt has been evicted from the “Big Brother” house. Makensy breaks down in tears and Matt walks out to meet Julie.
