CBS announces US-based ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ will be coming this winter!

Well, this is definitely the unexpected. During last night’s Double Eviction show on Big Brother 19, host Julie Chen just ended the night with a shocking revelation.

A US-based Celebrity edition of Big Brother will be launching on CBS this winter. Well this will be the first ever US-based Celebrity edition. And don’t worry, this will not affect the show returning for a regular summer season next year as well.

‘Celebrity Big Brother’ will broad cast on CBS TV and will play out similarly to the regular version, with multiple episodes per week, Heads Of Households, POVs and Evictions, plus 24/7 live feeds are confirmed to return for Celebrity Big Brother on CBS All Access. And oh yeah, we’ll have all our non-stop coverage here on the site.

However, it will be a much shorter season than usual, so the game will probably move very fast. And guess what! It’s going to be Big Brother, Julie Chen will host, so that’s awesome.

Celebrity Big Brother cast:

So who will be on it? Julie admits to The Hollywood Report that they can’t get Oscar winners necessarily, but thankfully she doesn’t immediately embrace the idea of having former HGs as players on Big Brother Celebrity. I think we can agree that most all are not celebrities outside the Big Brother realm.

“Big Brother has been dominating pop culture throughout its 19 seasons, and it is exciting to grow the franchise with the first-ever celebrity edition in the U.S.,” said executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan.

“Celebrities will be under the watchful eye of the Big Brother cameras, facing the classic game elements, and of course new twists in this special winter event.”

Exective Producer, Rich Meehan also told The Hollywood Reporter, “We’re going to create a big list and go out and see who we can get.” Aim high!

More details will come later, but this is certainly a huge event that has hit UK and will likely fill January and/or February. Some are guessing it’ll be around sweeps week in February. Since it’s a short season as Julie and the Exective Producers are saying then it’ll probably wrap before BBCAN6 arrives so that’s not bad either.

Well fans can definitely speculate on the cast, but Me, Myself and I’s Bobby Moynihan, who just appeared on ‘Big Brother 19’ last week to host a POV competition, seems like a perfect option since he was so excited to be in the house.
